There have been several articles in the news recently about deciding whether your child is ready to start kindergarten. The question usually arises when a child has a late-summer birthday and will be one of the youngest in the class. Families may be concerned about a variety of issues, including the child's future academic, social, and athletic success. (I have a June birthday, and as a "late-bloomer" in high school, I was thoroughly convinced that I would have been so much better at sports if my parents had held me back! I think this would not have been best for me in other areas, though.) Obviously, this ends up being a very personal decision, and you must decide what is best for your individual child. Any comments from parents making this decision???
