The Seasonal Flu Vaccine is Here!

We now have the seasonal influenza vaccine in-stock and available for immediate administration as recommended by the CDC.   We are happy to provide the vaccine for our patients as well as for parents, caregivers, and other family members.  We have Saturday morning Flu Shot Clinics scheduled for your convenience on the following dates:  September 26, October 10, October 24, and November 7.  This will be a fast and convenient way to receive your vaccine.  We can also give the flu vaccine at any regular well visit, sick visit or nurse visit during the week.

The seasonal influenza vaccine is recommended for the following age groups:

- All children 6 months of age and older

- All parents and caregivers of infants < 6 months of age

- Pregnant women

- Any person with a chronic medical condition such as asthma, diabetes, or immune deficiency that puts them at higher risk for complications with the Flu.

- Any household contact or caregiver of persons at high risk for the Flu.

We also expect to receive the vaccine for Novel H1N1 influenza A (“Swine Flu”) by mid-to-late October.  We will be recommending this vaccine for the targeted age groups as detailed here by the CDC.  We do not yet know how or when we will be administering the vaccine; please “stay tuned” to this website, subscribe to our e-mail updates, or subscribe to this blog for up-to-date information.

We have the traditional injection available for ages 6 months and older; this is preservative-free. We also have FluMist, a nasal spray form of the influenza vaccine. It is more effective and gives longer-lasting protection than the injection, and is not a shot!

Vaccines for our patients will be billed as per your insurance plan, but for parents or any other non-patient, we expect payment at the time of service.
