The Straughn Twins are here!

Greetings to the Forest Lane Pediatrics family,

I am pleased to report that the twins have arrived safe and sound, and mom and babies are doing great. They both came out screaming, and I suspect our house will never be quiet again. Big Brother Walt has been very sweet so far. The particulars:

Twin A:
Samuel McKinley 6# 13oz. born 9/28/07 at 7:29 AM. "Sam"

Twin B:
Harrison James 7# 3oz. born on 9/28/07 at 7:38 AM. "Harry"

With joy and relief,
Leigh and Chris Straughn

The Flu Vaccine is Here!

We have the flu vaccine in stock for all age groups. Call now for an appointment. Currently, we have preservative-free (i.e. Thimerosal-free) vaccine for ages 6 months - adult. For children, we can schedule a nurse visit at your convenience, or it can be given at any well or sick physician visit. We will be scheduling several Saturday morning "Flu Shot Clinics" for your convenience. This will be a fast and easy way to come for the flu vaccine. The first Saturday clinic is set for September 29. For adults, we are unable to file with your insurance, so we do offer the flu vaccine for a flat fee of $30. We do not have FluMist, the nasal spray flu vaccine, in stock yet. It is a safe and very effective option for age 5 and above. We have not seen any influenza activity in our office yet, but we are hearing "rumors" of an early flu season. In general, the earliest that we have seen significant flu activity is around Thanksgiving. We strongly recommend getting your flu vaccine as soon as possible, or by late October/early November at the latest. Please call or e-mail if you have any specific questions about the flu vaccine.
