Dr. Samara attending a classic car show

Retirement Announcement

After 38 years of service to the children of the Dallas Metroplex, Dr. Samara will be retiring at the end of 2021. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Samara for the care and compassion he has shown to children and we are honored that he chose to spend the last years of his career with Forest Lane Pediatrics. If you are a patient of Dr. Samara your medical records will remain with Forest Lane Pediatrics. If you would like to request your medical records or request a different FLP doctor as your child’s primary care physician, please call our office or send us a portal message with your request.

After practicing for many years in Plano, Dr. Samara joined Forest Lane Pediatrics in order to enjoy the support and camaraderie of a group of like-minded colleagues. He is originally from Brooklyn, New York and did his premedical studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC. with undergraduate degrees in Biology and French. An interval of living in Mexico allowed him to become proficient in Spanish as well as to appreciate life in another culture.

Dr. Samara graduated with a degree in Medicine from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He then came to Dallas for his internship and residency at Children’s Medical Center. He opened a practice in Plano and has spent the subsequent years enjoying working with families as they navigated the sometimes difficult job of rearing healthy and resilient children.

Dr. Samara spends his free time cooking

His professional associations include certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and fellowship in the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Dr. Samara spends his free time cooking and especially enjoys the relaxation of baking bread and trying to perfect that perfect loaf. He spends time at the gym to work off the benefits of all that kitchen time. For the past 10 years, he has been one of the physician volunteers at North Dallas Shared Ministries, a local clinic for the uninsured.

When he can get away, he pursues the often obscure and hidden antique Chinese snuff bottles that he collects as a member of an international collector’s society. Small and exquisite, they have been a gateway to a larger world of history, travel, and art. He also loves to attend classic car shows where it is always more advisable to be an enthusiastic onlooker than a collector.

Parent Testimonials

“I love this office and all the staff. We always get in and out quickly. We see Dr. Samara and he is WONDERFUL w my kids. He’s super nice and friendly and is willing to explain things in different ways that might help make things clearer or more understandable when it comes to child care/feeding/etc. I always feel like we’re being well looked after and taken care of here.”
– Rawan A.

“Dr. Samara took care of our girls, now 25 and 26 from the age of 1 and 2. He was knowledgeable, caring, easy to talk with and took excellent care of both. My Daughter has decided to take her son (4) to him even though they live 50 miles away. Her experience with Dr’s where she lives made her really appreciate one of Dr. Samara’s competence.”
